Spring Break '10

Oh my goodness, it's been such a great week at home. I decided this spring break to not plan anything and just breathe! I've been at home this week just being a mom and I've LOVED every minute. It certainly is a little taste of summer and if it's any indication, it should be a great one with these little ones.

We have played, crawled and watched the cars go by. Currently trying to get back on a schedule and trying to eat with our hands. Of course, my two cruise right by the vegetables on the plate, but love to pick up the puffs and goldfish and eat those with no problem. They got the cutest toy for Christmas and they love it now. "5 little monkeys" Henley even knows how to make the monkeys "jump"

This is what the kitchen looks like now. Usually happens a few times a day. We go in there for a change of scernery and they love to get into anything they can reach. This was at night after their bath. Nonni got them their cute new PJs -- they were just too cute!
Mornings usually consist of a small bottle (our coffee) and the Backyardagains. Henley LOVES the music. Have I mentioned she loves to dance? Davis is not as interested, but he will sit for a minute before moving onto other things.

The babies are really enjoying playing together now. They recognize each other, torture each other and love playing "peep-eye" together. It's been so fun to watch them develop into friends and also it's kind of nice to have a little break from entertaining. I always thought (and heard from a few people) -- if you can get to a year with twins, they start to entertain each other. Well, I'm starting to see the benefits now. Also, it's just fun to have two!

We had a playdate with my friend Valerie and her two boys at the park. It was so fun to be outside even though it's been so cold here. Who knew we would be wearing our big coats on Spring Break?

Oh how I've loved being home this week and love these babies.... It's just too much fun right now!

Movin and Groovin

Life has been passing by at such a rapid pace. This month is month 10! 10 months since these precious, perfect babies came into our worlds. It has been, by far, my most favorite month of their existence! But, I have far too little pictures to show for it and I'm ashamed! Oh well, at least I have savored every smile, every new clap and giggle. It has been GREAT.

These two babies have the sweetest eyes -- both so different, but just as piercing. Henley and her little doe eyes are just the best. And Davis with the sweetest eyes that disappear when he smiles -- ahhhh, you just can't beat it.
Some milestones to report for Miss Henley: she is DANCING and loving it. She cannot hear music and NOT dance. It is hilarious and I just want to eat her. She is also pointing and making a noise by strumming her fingers over her lips and humming at the same time. Her crawl is very "unique" -- not exactly crawling, but more of a scoot. She loves to watch Davis though!
And some milestones to report for Davis: he is CRAWLING and fast! Basically he is everywhere at anytime and into everything. He loves to sit at the window and watch the cars go by. He will definitely be a talker as he is babbling a lot about everything. He loves the light and basically is interested in figuring out this world -- sooner would be better than later for him.

I'm proud to report we have a Church....finally. We are proud new members of Cahaba Park Presbyterian. We are really excited about our new commitment. It's been a long time in the making, but I really think we have found an exciting church home. Above is Henley before church a couple of weeks ago. It was just a girls church trip this day b/c the boys were sick. Doesn't she look pretty?

Oh my goodness, this year has passed so quickly. With babies' impending 1st birthday rapidly approaching, I think back to one year ago today. I never knew how much our hearts could grow.

Little Loves

Ok, I give up, I'm ready for warm weather. These past few weeks have really been miz... Here are a couple of pics of the babies out for a winter stroll. Of course, with the REALLY cold temps around here this has not been possible and cabin fever has definitely set in!

The cute hats are compliments of Nonni and Grandy. She picked them up on their Alaskan cruise this summer.

There have been lots of milestones to report. The twins are now 9 months old. Davis is kind of crawling...he's definitely moving. Henley is starting to try at least to be on her stomach and lift up. They both LOVE standing at their activity table and playing the music and they're really started to interact with each other. I caught them just playing "pull the paci out" with each other today. It's really cute to watch!

Davis recognizes and loves the "light" -- any light. He can say "ight" but only every once in a while. Henley is all the sudden talking. She says "uh-oh" so clearly after you and also uses it in context! She dropped her pacifier today and said "uh-oh" by herself. Sooooo smart! She also said "ba-ba" for the bottle, and "da-da" for her Dad of course. I think Davis says all this too, but he is just way too busy to stop and talk. He will rule the world one day if he keeps up this energy!

We are having so much fun watching them grow, but man is it exhausting. More pics coming soon!

Ahhhh January

Oh my gosh, I have grown to LOVE January. The nip of clean, cold air and NOTHING to do. It has become one of my favs. I know that sounds weird, but after the holidays and the National Championship with Alabama, it's just such a welcomed let down.

There has been lots happen in the lives of the twins over the past several weeks. Henley now has 6 teeth and 2 more about to pop out on top. Davis finally sprouted his two bottom teeth this past week -- how precious he's going to be with that smile! Davis is continuing to be a little ahead or just more interested in moving and talking and eating than Henley. I know she'll catch up someday, but she just likes to take her time. He has started chewing/sucking on natural cheese puffs. It choked him at first a little, but he's getting the hang of it. Henley doesn't care for them just yet, even though she has a mouth full of teeth.

This is their new activity table they got for Christmas. Oh how they love it! Henley LOVES to dance, so she just sits back while Davis plays DJ. Of course, he has to stand up at the table -- anything to be "bigger." It is so funny to watch and they are really starting to enjoy each other's company. In fact, since Henley naps so well (and Davis doesn't), I will put him at the activity table when he is the only one awake. He is just not interested in playing the music unless Miss Henley is there to dance. So cute!
They continue to look nothing alike whatsoever. Henley has this smile that she does and I managed to capture a little on camera. Of course, she had her pacifier in, so you are not getting the full effect, but you can see what a character she is. Also Davis is due for another fitting in the helmet. It started to rub a blister and so he has not been wearing it for a week now. Hopefully we'll get that fixed this week.

Another big change in the house is we no longer bathe in the infant bath. This has made life a little easier because I was doing double duty with the baths. I am always doing double duty, but the baths were getting a little taxing in the kitchen. Aunt Nancy and Dianne gave the twins these awesome seats for the bathtub and boy do they LOVE them! We sit in there for about 40 minutes at night and just play. They are never so happy as in the bathtub.

Well the babies turn 9 months old his week. In some ways, I've felt everyday of the 9 months and in others it is flying by way too fast. These babies are such a blessing in our lives -- we're so grateful for the joy they have brought to us!

Christmas Vacation

My vacation has been great so far...many visits with friends and family. We spent Christmas with my family in Gadsden this year. Wow, what a difference a year makes! It was a little crazy to say the least with 3 new babies. I also found out that my two hate loud noises, so when my family got going with stories and laughing, the twins started crying. Not good! They will have to learn to deal with some noise in Gadsden. Here is a picture from Christmas Eve -- the 4 boys and Miss Priss in the middle. Last time for the cutest outfits in the world.... They can now be retired.

Christmas morning started early because the boys had to leave and go to their other grandparents' house. The twins were set up by the "kitchen tree" and as you can see we took full advantage of the fact they don't know what Christmas is yet! Henley received her potterybarn chair, a baby huggums, and 3 of her favorite green hospital pacifiers. Davis also received a potterybarn chair, his helmet (which was the biggest gift of them all!) and some pacifiers. They also got SO many toys and clothes from the family -- let's just say it was a VERY MERRY Christmas!

Now, I realize I've been lacking in the blogging department lately. December is crazy for everyone, I know, but teaching on top of twins did me in this year. We were in survival mode and we didn't even decorate! Again, taking advantage while we can. Without blogging, I have not let you know about Davis and the helmet. He was fitted right after Thanksgiving and we've had it for about a month now. I'm not really good at making him sleep in it and I need to get better, but when I take it off in the afternoons, some of the places on his head are so red and angry, I just can't bring myself to put it back on after the bath. He has another appt to have it shaved down in places, so maybe after that we can finally start 23 hrs a day!
Davis is a champ about it. I'm so thankful it is him and not Henley having to wear it. For the most part, he doesn't complain.

What a wonderful, wild Christmas we had with my family. We're off to LA now, to watch history being made. Can I get a Rollllllll Tide?

Thanksgiving at the BEACH!

Well, if you've never tried Thanksgiving at the beach, I highly recommend it. We got the idea from my friend Dawn, who spends every Thanksgiving with her in-laws at the beach. Well, we got to talking last Christmas with Billy's family and decided it was wrth a try. It has been great. The weather is cool, there are no lines, no traffic and the beach is almost deserted. It's like our own private island! We've also had such a nice time visiting with Billy's family...some of you may remember, Amy, Billy's sister, had a baby the same day as the twins. Reid is a doll and we have loved sitting around watching all the 7 month olds. Of course you can only imagine the "gear" that is here with us. In addition, we also have the ever so entertaining Gant. He is 4 yrs old now...he has been making us laugh the whole time.

Look at these precious babies on their first beach trip. We waited until just the right light and thankfully the twins attitudes decided it was also a good time. I was the "perfect storm" and we ended up getting the best pictures. Stay tuned for a little Christmas card with one, or a few of them included!
Henley has her new thing...and it's dancing. She has put on quite a show for all of us. This is her "in action." Please note the dress...it is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Look closely and you can see Santa riding a horse to the barn...I mean really? Does it get any cuter?
This is Davis's matching outfit his Nonni found him on ebay. They were too cute. Davis had a big time on the porch with Gigi. He had to wear his hat though...that baby skin can't be exposed!
We seem to attract attention wherever we go with these two and this trip down to the beach was no exception. A stranger stopped us and asked if we wanted a group photo and since these full family photos are rare in our world, I thought Iwould post it. Please excuse my appearence. I've been busy tending to babies and just not caring at the beach....it's been great!

It's Official!

The twins have grown up! I'm currently sitting here watching them fight -- yes, fight -- over a toy. We're in for a long ride. They are more precious than ever though and really growing into their personalities. Henley is little miss sensitive, while Davis is more "go-with-the-flow." They both are working on, and have pretty much mastered sitting up now. We have occasional head-first dives into the carpet. I'm sure it's first in a long line of accidents. Davis has long surpassed Henley in the growth department. He eats everything and loves it, while she eats nothing and hates everything. Oh, life with twins! It seems opposites is the way they like to play. We don't really have a schedule anymore and sleeping has been a mess recently. Of course, they have been sick and it's added to the chaos at nighttime, but I am determined to get back on a schedule this week...stay tuned. Maybe I'll finally get it together after 7 months!

Davis has the sweetest face in the whole world! I could just eat him up....what a precious boy he is!!!! Thank heaven for little boys....
Miss Henley is maybe the cutest thing and a MESS. We have our hands full with this one. She is a doll though and makes us laugh!!
Brother and Sister.....
Between the two, Henley has quite a bit of hair, so we did her hair up mohawk style the other night. How cute is she? Always has that mouth open....they love to yell and scream and talk about it.

My precious babies waking up in the morning are just about the cutest things ever. They are in their little sleep sacks. The new ones we got for winter and fleece and so comfy. They LOVE them. When we put them on at night after bathtime, they know it's time for bed. I'm thinking I want a sleep sack for myself...
Finally, we had to get two jumping machines b/c they are both busy little bodies these days. They are too funny when they get going. I love watching how they jump differently. Henley looks like she's jumping rope or dancing and Davis is just full force up and down.

They are growing up WAY too fast, but we are enjoying every stage!
